I watched my niece make this then asked her for it then made a frame for it. I feel like it represents eating sour candy

Christmas Presents 2024
First design them, then cut them out of a table leg, then sand them on an inverted belt sander in a vice, then chop them on an ancient band saw, then burn them, then paint them, then seal them, then keychainify them!

The Back Burner
"It's on the backburner," For me there is only one burner, and making The Satan Killers was the first time it had even gotten warm in years. After writing this chapter with Dr. Kasamov and the test reactor I looked back through my scans and found exactly 8 years to the day was when I developed the concept initially.

The God Labs Rough Script Begins
Finally, finally finally, after 8 years, I've been able to go ahead writing the rough script for The God Labs. It consists of all the writing and thumbnails of the illustrations and is already about 250 pages having just started writing part 5. It starts just after the events of The Satan Killers, at Satan's funeral. This is going to be a lot of work. Originally I was going to paint in photoshop from my ink drawings, as I did in The Satan Killers, but this proved too taxing to my hand so I'll be doing another refinement of final sized pencil drawings before the digital painting, like I did in Red and the Wolfe. Finally.

Pedal Box Omega
Remade this anti-dust pedal box for the third time. I accidentally dropped a pedal on the second iteration and broke it but I was considering throwing the whole thing out anyway. Having to take the extra step of removing the lid made me not play as often, but I think this side mounted piano hinge will work out. Also has the benefit of blocking some of the loudness from the amp/speaker right next to it.

Lighted pedal case
Made a lighted display case for pedals and such. I didn't know home depot has big sheets of clear acrylic, this is the new future I've been waiting for.

Corel Painter and Adobe Photoshop CS5
My hand still hurts after doing the photoshop paintings for The Satan Killers, so I've been trying to figure a way to spend less time on the tablet. I thought I'd try Corel Painter to see if it is any faster for what I'm doing and I did these for a comparison. I haven't used it since v9.5 and my opinion is still the same. Cool for some things, can never seem to make a set of brushes that do everything I want. I always thought of digital painting as its own medium, so I was never super on-board with the 'it feels like traditional media!!!!' thing. It has always seemed to have problems Adobe ironed out ages ago too, the one most annoying to me this time was how slow brush resizing is and that it requires two taps to start working again, often making a mark I didn't want. Then you hit ctrl+z, but it didn't actually register the mark so it deletes the layer you just made instead, etcetera etcetera.

Balletarinas 3
Final Balletarina studies testing ink. The ink wash worked fine with sumi ink but didn't play nice with Lamy cartridges so I decided to forsake them. I think I just finished the first draft of The God Labs 01, finally, after all these years, using said cartridges. At 3 panels per page I counted it to be about 70 pages which is nice because any more and it has to be compressed as all get-out to even submit it to Kindle. Part of the reason The Satan Killers is 47 pages, also because I was desperate to release something and wanted a short project that would lead into, finally, The God Labs.

The Satan Killers, 2022 November 8th - 2024 Septembre 16
First drawing of The Satan Killers, 2022 November 8, and I think you can call it all buttoned up 2024 Septembre 16. About two years working on it every day. After doing the Kindle layouts I didn't like the readability of some pages so I went back and changed 12 of them. I didn't want the text to be intrusive but it is intrusive in a different way if it is difficult to read. I wanted to wait until October to upload both the graphic novel to Kindle and the video to Youtube, we'll see if I can wait that long.

This Frame.
This frame again... I deleted the layer from my last go around with this frame and started over. Spent a while staring at it not so much looking for things to change but to convince myself I was fine with it, and I like where it's at now.

45 Satanic Killing Pages Done
I finished the original 45 pages of The Satan Killers. Before I do the last two pages I'm going back over everything one last time, then I'll do the guided view and format it for Amazon's thing. Hopefully at only 47 pages I won't have to resize much, Kindle only lets you upload 600 megs as opposed to ComiXology's 1 gig, then they compress the hell out of it anyway.

Feetball
My football stopped holding air so I cut it open and stuffed it with the entire contents of one pillow and stitched it back up. It's like a nerf ball now

Pedal Box
Made a box for pedals so they don't get so damn dusty. It was better with the original acrylic lid but it broke in the process, so now it's just pallet wood. Made a switching junction box thing so I can just plug in pedals I'm testing without having to take one out of the chain.

40+ Guitar Pedals
I started years ago by bringing a board from an old squire amp to my dad (an electrical engineer) just to identify components: resistors, capacitors, transistors, opamps, etcetera. I've built 40+ effects now, and a few amps, thanks to tagboardeffects, dirtboxlayouts, aionfx, and generalguitargadgets. I just used a bunch of them to do the soundtrack for The Satan Killers video, which I'll hopefully be releasing this year along with the graphic novel.

More Pen Tests
I ended up ordering a Lamy M and Lamy 1.1mm calligraphy pen as these flowed the most consistently for me. I don't recommend getting a Jinhao, they make a lot of knock off Lamy/Parker/Pilot pens, but with poorer quality steel for the nibs. At least from what I can tell from my now bent nib.

Tube Amp House
Finally made a little house for the little tube amp kit I constructed a while ago. The goal was to completely enclose it so it didn't get so damn dusty but I couldn't think of a convenient way to do it.

The Satan Killers Origin
2015, first drawing of The Satan Killers, just a random page in my sketchbook that I wouldn't revisit until November 2022 when I wrote Roger's confrontation with Satan and have been working on it everyday since. It became clear that it fit nicely as the first installment in The God Labs world, which I've been working on since 2017. Currently on page 31 of 47 of The Satan Killers, hope to release it and the video I made for it this year.

Christmas 2023 Presents
Christmas 2023 presents. Sculpted a present in a present. Cutting the mitres on the outer boxes was difficult and dangerous with my table saw and its lack of throat plate support. I was going to sculpt a different thing for each box but I couldn't think of a good way to afix the clay to the base wood for the other items I envisioned. M.D. Geist.
