Rifle sling swivels for a guitar strap
I was trying to think of a way to do something other than regular
guitar strap buttons when I remembered that they make all sorts of quick
detach rifle sling swivels. This has the added benefit that when
removed there is nothing sticking out of the body which is why I didn’t
want to use regular buttons. They work really well, spin around 360
degrees, pop in and out really easily and are very secure. I cut the
ends off a guitar strap and made a thing to hold the swivel, as shown in
my sketchbook I was trying to figure out how to do that. But you could
just pick from the great variety of rifle slings that are available too,
most even come with the swivels so all you’d need are the stud anchors
if you went that route. I wasn’t really going for a paramilitary look so
I just stuck with a black nylon.

Bass
I made a bass from a kit because I wanted to make a specific body
shape and thought it’d be the easiest way to go. It turned out great
despite it being a real hassle getting it working. I had to extend the
case I originally made for the Schecter by 1.5 inches, I did that by
chopping it in half on the table saw and gluing in a spacer and
reinforcement and it is just the perfect size!

Guitar Chop
I uh, chopped up my guitar. I removed all the finish from the back
(which was damaged presumably from dropping) completely reprofiled it,
slimmed down and made the horns pointy instead of dull safety horns,
reprofiled the neck and made it thinner and more attractive, and I made a
wedge to fill the body cavity and a block to convert the floyd rose
tremelo bridge into a hardtail that can still be fully adjusted. Then I
refinished it with
Shellac
to fill the grain and
Lacquer
on top. Oh and removed material from the bottom horn so access to the
neck is easier sitting in classical position. It feels so much nicer
than when I first got it I’m really happy with how it turned out, solved
all the nit picks I had after I had been playing it for a while.

The Perfect Boy
A perfect boy stood before them. Tall, slender, ergonomically
proportioned, smart as a whip and docile as the heifer it strokes. They
lay their finest Bowler atop him, that he might be a gentlemen.

Bee's wax for wooden purposes
Making a wood finish from bee’s wax and mineral spirits/turpentine is
really easy and it works really well. This batch I did 1oz (by weight)
bee’s wax and 25 millilitres volatile substance. Just melt the wax and
mix together and pour into a container before it solidifies. I like
finishes like this because they are simple and easy to repair, and the
repair always blends with the old finish.

Starbucks Signs
A while ago I volunteered to make some of the signs for the Starbucks
I went to to draw; after overhearing the manager say she didn’t know
what to put on them. It is a great strain to me to make something like
this so it was an interesting challenge. I had to ask what to write,
because I would have written something weird otherwise.
