IrfanView Versus Windows Photo Viewer

So IrfanView most closely shows what I'm looking at in photoshop in terms of colour, contrast, brightness. I have no idea what the hell Windows Photo Viewer is doing, it's like it's set to automatically crank up the contrast 10,000%. These are both .jpg's of a photoshop file, the one on the left viewed with IrfanView, the right with Windows 7 default Windows Photo Viewer. I thought my monitor was going out.
