To Diminish into the Distance

I was re-reading though my Charles Sovek book from my Tone Colour and Composition course with Geraldine Kovats and was thinking about something receding into the distance increasing in value or decreasing. So as the squares get smaller and look further away they decrease in saturation and the difference in value between the light and dark side diminishes, one getting lighter and one darker. I was just curious how it would look, it’s all relative though, something 10 miles away might appear as a brighter red than something 10 feet in front of you.
